Project Sunburst Completed!
The Leongatha Community Garden is celebrating a significant achievement: the successful completion of Project Sunburst, its garden bed replacement program! The transformation is now complete, on time and under budget, with a grand total of 57 brand new 'Waterline' raised garden beds enhancing our garden space.
The project would not have been possible without the generous support of the South Gippsland Shire Council, who through their Community Grants program, gifted the garden $10,000 for the work. The garden was also fortunate to benefit from a $5,000 grant from Open Gardens Victoria.
Garden members who gained early access to the new beds have been delighted with their productivity, reporting flourishing growth and abundant harvests.
The hard work of the dedicated volunteer team, who diligently worked, laughed, debated and sometimes argued, every Tuesday morning, from August until April has truly paid off.
Excitingly, there are a few new raised garden beds available for rent, offering a fantastic opportunity for new members to join the vibrant gardening community. If you're interested just send us an email.
The vision of wood chipping the entire area has now become a reality, creating a truly beautiful and functional space for members and the wider community to enjoy.
"We are absolutely thrilled to announce the completion of Project Sunburst!" stated LCG President Neil Barrett. "Seeing the new beds in place and hearing about the wonderful harvests from our members is incredibly rewarding. This rejuvenation project will undoubtedly enhance the gardening experience for everyone."

The Leongatha Community Garden extends its gratitude to all the volunteers, supporters, and community members who contributed their time, energy, and expertise to make Project Sunburst a resounding success. The finish line has been crossed, and the garden is now ready to fully embrace this revitalised space.
You're invited to celebrate the completion of the project with us! Join fellow garden enthusiasts and friends on Tuesday, May 13th, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Garden. We're thrilled to announce that the Mayor of South Gippsland Shire Council will be joining us for this special occasion. Come and enjoy some delicious finger food and refreshments as we celebrate together! We can't wait to see you there!
